Description
This project will analyze the visualization of HIV/AIDS as a security issue in the
period subsequent to 2000. In this period HIV/AIDS has shifted from a public health
matter to a regional and global security issue. The major objective of this study is to
determine whether the visual representation of HIV/AIDS from 2000 onwards reflects
this change in focus and, if not, what visual strategies might be implemented in order
to manifest the linkages between HIV/AIDS and security. The major component of
the project is the analysis of how HIV/AIDS has been pictured as a security issue.
The study will elaborate on the gap between the security problematic of HIV/AIDS
and its current visualization and how this gap could be addressed.
