Description

With the increasing body of evidence about the prevalence of sexual violence in conflict and non-conflict setting, there is growing debate about the potential role of sexual violence in helping to facilitate HIV transmission. This project aims to summarise the potential factors associated with the transmission of HIV in different circumstances of coerced sex. For specific assumptions about the degree to which these different factors may be associated with increased risk of HIV transmission, mathematical modelling will be used to estimate the impact of sexual violence on the victim’s risk of HIV acquisition.
