Description

The aim of this research is to determine the impact of HIV/AIDS on the operational
effectiveness of military forces in the Global South, especially Sub Saharan Africa.
The research will set out the key components of operational capability and the factors
that influence the effectiveness of a military force. It will then identify how HIV/AIDS
affects the various functional and specialist areas across the military community.
Based on this analysis, the strategic and operational approaches for dealing with
HIV/AIDS in the military will be assessed.
